I embraced Islam in January 2009 and the bulk of my preoccupations focus on the interfacing of my two very contrasted worlds, within a South African context. The plight of Muslim women is something that absolutely breaks my heart and I definitely believe that there is a place for Muslim Feminism in Islam. I don’t care who that offends. I abhor violence of all kinds but violence against women, children and animals riles and disgusts me to the core of my being. At the risk of sounding like a raging hippie, I think it is our duty to care for and nurture those weaker than us; to have compassion and to think out of the sheep pen to avoid societal diarrhoea.
I wake up a different crazy every day. Sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s reclusive but most of the time no adjective comes to mind. My favourite days are the days when I wake up feeling like a child and everything makes me happy, especially Ahmedy. When I get upset, shoe and Lindor shopping generally fixes the problem most adequately.

I live in a nice leafy suburb in Cape Town with my cat called Ning and my husband slash best friend Ahmed. I love washing dishes and watching the Crime and Investigation channel.
